Permanent Tanooki ran in The Cavalier Daily at the University of Virginia from 2001 to 2003. It was written by Conor Lastowka and drawn by Cason Moore. Each year during the week of National High Five Day, the comic devoted its five panels to promoting the holiday, depicting Permanent Tanooki characters and guests celebrating National High Five Day.
